Aysanabee

Aysanabee burst on to the scene at the 2020 Indigenous Music Awards. His music has been variously described as introspective folk, indie-pop-rock, and R&B – but the deep soul in his voice comes through in whatever song he sings. His music tells the story of his life, his lived experience and about reconnecting with his Oji-Cree roots. “Pure heart and soul run deep with his message and beat.”

Gamelan Bike-Bike – Balinese Inspiration

Gamelan Bike Bike draws its musical inspiration from Bali, Indonesia and its raw materials from the scrap metal bins of Vancouver. Founded in 2012 as a community-based ensemble, the group’s instruments were created from various scrap metals, including over 100 discarded bicycle frames that were transformed into tuned metallophones and gongs.

La Nef – Sea Shanties

The worldwide popularity of Sea Shanties shows no sign of slowing down! A phenomenon on Tik Tok and other social media sites, Sea shanties are work songs that were created by 19th century sailors aboard merchant ships, usually sung in accompaniment of hard labour such as hoisting the sails or raising the anchor.  Flash forward to 2012, when La Nef worked with the video game company Ubisoft to create the wildly popular soundtracks to the video games Assassin’s Creed III, Black Flag and Rogue. Since that time, La Nef has been touring and recording these songs of travel, adventure, and missing loved ones who are far away.
