Marcelline Moody

Marcelline Moody (BA, U of WA) is an Orff graduate of the University of Manitoba, Canada, and has her diploma in Advanced Studies in Music and Dance Education from the Special Course at the Orff Institute, Salzburg.

She has been teaching the Orff levels summer courses for 25 years at the University of Manitoba and has also taught workshops across Canada, Australia, Austria (Salzburg), China, France and England.

She has been a music education consultant with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra for almost 20 years, preparing students for listening to the symphony, and training students for live movement performances with the orchestra. She now works in a similar capacity with the Victoria Symphony.

Since retiring from the school system she has been teaching children at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and leading a recorder ensemble for seniors.

Marcelline is also following a life-long interest in composing and arranging, especially pieces for children. Her great love is the recorder. She has recently published recorder manuals “Reach for a Star,” books 1 and 2. Teaching notation in a hands on, de-mystifying way is another of her passions.

In June of 1986, she was awarded the Bronze Medal of the town of Ouistreham in Normandy for her services to music in the community there. She is a recipient of the Morna-June Morrow Award for Excellence in Music Education in Manitoba and in June of 2004, she received the Arts in Education Award from the Manitoba Foundation of the Arts.

Kimberley Manerikar

Kimberley Manerikar holds both Master of Music Composition and Bachelor of Music Composition degrees from the University of Victoria, where she studied composition with Christopher Butterfield and Dániel Péter Biró, and piano with Eva Solar-Kinderman.

Her music has been performed across Canada. She has received commissions from SALT New Music Festival and Symposium, Redshift Music Society, Open Space Arts Society and Celesta Piano Studio. She is also a performer and improviser dedicated to supporting the creation of new works. She has premiered dozens of pieces by emerging composers.

Kimberley has taught private music lessons for 15 years. She designs and delivers composition workshops for children and youth, geared towards introducing a diversity of approaches to music composition and notation.
