Victoria Symphony Launches Virtual Season with Vivaldi’s Four Season’s

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Symphony returns to the concert stage with one of the most popular pieces in the classical music repertoire: Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Led by Concertmaster Terence Tam, the performance will be produced by the Victoria Symphony and premiered on the website (victoriasymphony.ca) on Thursday, October 1 at 7:30 pm.

“This is a unique opportunity for you to enjoy the Victoria Symphony on your own terms,” said new CEO, Matthew White, “you will be able to enjoy Victoria Symphony concerts for free from your living rooms, on the bus, or anywhere you have an internet connection and a device.”

The Victoria Symphony plans to bring at least two online performances per month as the main focus of the 2020/21 virtual season: some larger-scale concert featuring the whole symphony, socially distanced, and some smaller-scale groups playing live together from local venues.

White continued: “Even though most people agree that the live concert experience will never be replaced by virtual concerts, digital technology has become incredibly flexible. By providing you with intimate interviews, backstage access, enhanced program notes, and other innovative online tools, we are confident you will see things from a new and different perspective that may end up brining you closer to the orchestra!”

“We are determined to make this one of the most innovative and successful virtual seasons in Canada,” said Maestro Kluxen from his home in Denmark. “I look forward to re-connecting with our current audience as well as engaging with new audiences over the course of our virtual season.”

Each concert will be premiered on the Victoria Symphony website (victoriasymphony.ca) and will remain on the site for 30 days.  The virtual season will be available for free, but if possible, the Symphony encourages viewers to make a tax-deductible donation in lieu of purchasing a ticket. Donations will go a long way to supporting the longer-term health of the organization. More upcoming concert premieres will be announced in the coming weeks.
