2009 Splash Soloists Christine Wong & Josh Lovell

Christine Wong is 15 years old and started to play the piano at age seven. At age 10, she began formal lessons with her current teacher Ingrid Henderson at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Christine is currently at Mount Douglas Senior Secondary School and will be in grade 11 in the fall of 2009.

She was recently selected as one of 6 finalists to perform in the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra Don Chrysler Young Musician’s Concerto Competition 2009 and performs frequently in the community; for fundraising events and private functions and has a great love for collaborating with other musicians.

Her other musical interests include playing first violin with the school strings orchestra and piano in the jazz band and large musical productions.

Christine successfully completed the grade 10 RCM piano exam and is currently preparing for the ARCT Performer’s Diploma.

Josh Lovell, age 18, has just completed Grade 12 at Pacific Christian School. Josh has had a life long interest in singing. He has sung in school choirs as a member of the Junior, Senior and Chamber choirs and has participated in many Music Festivals and Recitals with his voice teacher Anne Bennett. Josh has been taking voice lessons for over 4 years and has studied a variety of music mainly Classical and Musical Theatre. After participating in over 10 singing recitals, Josh still has an intense desire for his voice training and pursuing music as a career.

Josh sings with the praise team at church where both contemporary and traditional music is sung. He has worked as a host and singer at the Macaroni Grill where many customers came to hear the Italian arias that Josh sang during his shift. Just recently he placed 4th in Victoria idol.

Josh is now studying music theory and taking voice exams in pursuit of post-secondary education. Josh is planning to audition for the Canadian College of Performing Arts. He will always love to sing and perform and he plans to bring his excitement, energy, and talent to the stage where he belongs.
